Last year the New Orleans Saints won Super Bowl XLIV and one of the key players on the team was Reggie Bush. Bush has since been accused on allegations from the NCAA of being ineligible for the 2005 season in where he won the Heisman Trophy while playing at the University of Southern California (USC). He was accused of accepting money and gifts from agents while playing in college that would have made him ineligible in 2005. Bush has forfeited his Heisman Trophy and there will be no winner of the Heisman for the 2005 season. In the 75 year history of the award there have never been talks of taking a trophy away but i guess there is a first time for everything. Bush was not forced to forfeit the trophy but did it "out of respect to the award"(Bush). He has apologized to the University saying " If I could turn the clock back I would" (Bush). He does regret the whole situation and admits to making mistakes. USC was also forced to lose scholarships and are not allowed to go to any bowl games for 2 years so Bush was not the only one punished for his actions. In my opinion I don't think he should give back his trophy because he was still the best player in the 2005 season so he still deserves the trophy. The gifts and money that he received did not make him a better player, they may have tarnished his reputation but the stats do not lie. Reggie Bush was the best player in the 2005 season and deserves the Heisman.
